I sat the CELPIP General last year. The prep was harder than the test itself, and most of the difficulty came from sorting through bad resources. The official site has materials scattered across half a dozen pages. Reddit threads point to things that no longer exist. YouTube tutorials recycle the same five videos under different channels.
This is the list I’d have given myself on day one. About five hours of research, cross-checked against the 2025 official CELPIP guidebook. I’m naming platforms by what they do, not who pays for placement.
What’s here: official resources, three practice platforms, communities, and books. What’s not: anything I couldn’t verify or wouldn’t recommend to a friend.
Before paying for anything, exhaust the free official material. Most of it is genuinely useful, and you’ll need to recognize what’s authentic before you can evaluate the rest.
The official CELPIP YouTube channel hosts test walkthrough videos and recorded webinars. Follow the link from celpip.ca to find the canonical channel rather than searching directly. There are several third-party “CELPIP Prep” channels, and it’s worth landing on the official one first.
What’s worth watching from the official channel:
The free CELPIP webinars are essentially the same content as the YouTube videos, just delivered live with a Q&A at the end. If you want the Q&A, sign up for an upcoming live session through the Free Resources hub.
